Cookie Policy (Master Page)

Last updated: 02 February 2026

This Cookie Policy explains how FPV School may use cookies and similar technologies across the FPV School Hub ecosystem, and what choices you have.

For the master index of legal policies and site-entry links, see:
/legal

Privacy Policy:
/legal/privacy-policy

Privacy-first analytics: Across the Hub we aim to use privacy-minded measurement. For this reason, we currently use Umami Analytics to understand overall traffic and improve content and performance.

1. What this policy covers

This Cookie Policy applies to FPV School properties (websites, tools, communities, and related services) where cookies or similar technologies are used.

Some FPV School properties may publish a shorter "site-entry" cookie notice on their own domain. Those pages are intended to point back to this Master policy for the full explanation and definitions.

This policy should be read together with:

  • Terms & Conditions: /legal/terms-and-conditions
  • Privacy Policy: /legal/privacy-policy
  • General & FPV Safety Disclaimers: /legal/safety-disclaimers

2. What "cookies" and "similar technologies" mean

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. Similar technologies include:

  • local storage or session storage;
  • SDK identifiers (in apps, where relevant);
  • pixels or tags that load resources which may enable measurement or attribution.

For simplicity, this policy refers to "cookies" to cover cookies and similar storage/access technologies, unless stated otherwise.

3. Our approach to consent (UK baseline)

Our UK baseline is that we:

  • provide clear information about cookies and similar technologies; and
  • request consent for cookies that are not strictly necessary, where required.

Some cookies are exempt from consent requirements (for example, where they are strictly necessary for a service you request). Where consent is not required for a specific purpose, we still aim to be transparent and provide user-friendly controls where practicable.

We use a cookie consent tool (where enabled) to help you:

  • accept, reject, or customise non-essential cookie categories; and
  • change your choices later.

Cookie banners and controls: We may display a cookie banner and cookie settings on FPV School properties to help users control non-essential cookies and similar technologies. Whether a banner appears can depend on the specific property and which third-party features are enabled (for example: embedded media, external tools, or marketing/partner tags).

4. Cookie categories we may use

The exact cookies used can vary by property, feature set, and configuration. The categories below describe typical uses across FPV School properties.

4.1 Strictly necessary cookies

These are used to make the site or service work and to provide features you request. Examples include cookies used for:

  • security and fraud prevention (basic protections);
  • load balancing and basic performance routing;
  • login sessions and account authentication (where available);
  • core site preferences needed to deliver the service (for example, remembering you're logged in);
  • payment or checkout continuity (where checkout exists).

Strictly necessary cookies are generally enabled by default because the service may not function properly without them.

4.2 Preferences and settings cookies

These cookies remember choices you make to improve your experience, such as:

  • language or region preference (where available);
  • display preferences (where available);
  • remembering cookie choices or banner state.

Where required, we request your consent before enabling non-essential preference cookies.

4.3 Analytics and measurement cookies

These cookies help us understand how people use our pages and features, so we can improve:

  • navigation and content structure;
  • performance and reliability;
  • which pages/features are most useful.

Our current analytics choice: We currently use Umami Analytics as a privacy-minded analytics tool. Depending on configuration, analytics may be implemented in a way that avoids third-party cookies or reduces identifiers, and we aim to keep measurement proportionate to the purpose.

Note: We do not use Google Analytics (including GA4) as our default analytics platform across the Hub at this time.

Where required, we request your consent before enabling analytics cookies. If analytics is enabled, we aim to use it in a proportionate, privacy-minded way.

4.4 Functional and embedded-media cookies

Some pages may include embedded tools or media (for example, video players, interactive widgets, or externally hosted resources). These third-party features may set their own cookies or use similar technologies.

Where practicable, we aim to:

  • load embedded content in a reasonable way; and
  • give you control over non-essential categories via cookie settings.

4.5 Advertising, marketing, and affiliate tracking

Some FPV School properties may use:

  • marketing tags for attribution or campaign measurement; and/or
  • affiliate/referral tracking links (for example, links that credit us if you purchase from a retailer).

Affiliate tracking is typically handled by the third party after you click through to their website. Where we use marketing or advertising cookies on our own properties, we request consent where required.

For affiliate disclosures, see:
/legal/affiliate-disclosure

5. How to manage your cookie choices

5.1 Cookie banner / cookie settings (where enabled)

If a cookie banner or settings panel is available on a specific FPV School property, you can use it to:

  • accept or reject non-essential cookie categories; and/or
  • customise your preferences.

You can usually change your choices later by reopening cookie settings (often via a link in the footer).

5.2 Browser controls

Most browsers allow you to:

  • delete cookies;
  • block all cookies or block third-party cookies; and/or
  • restrict storage access.

Note: blocking cookies may affect login, preferences, checkout, and some site features.

5.3 "Do Not Track" and similar signals

Some browsers provide privacy signals (for example, "Do Not Track" or similar settings). Not all third-party services respond to such signals consistently. Where feasible, we aim to respect user choices through our cookie settings and proportionate defaults.

6. Third-party services and cookies

Third-party services (for example, embedded media, payment providers, community platforms, analytics providers) may set cookies or use similar technologies under their own policies.

Some services we use for operating and improving the Hub (for example, search performance and indexing tools) may involve requests to third-party systems. Third-party behaviour can change over time; where third-party cookies or similar technologies are involved, the relevant third party's policies will apply.

We do not control third-party cookies. You should review the relevant third-party privacy/cookie information where appropriate, especially when you leave FPV School properties or interact with embedded services.

7. International visitors

FPV School is UK-focused (England and Wales). If you access FPV School properties from outside the UK, local cookie and privacy rules may differ. We aim to apply clear, privacy-minded standards across the ecosystem, but specific requirements may vary by location and service.

8. Cookie duration and retention (general)

Cookies can be:

  • session cookies (deleted when you close your browser); or
  • persistent cookies (remain for a set period, unless deleted sooner).

Retention periods vary by cookie purpose and provider. Where cookie settings are available, they may provide more detail. We aim to keep cookie use proportionate to the purpose.

9. Changes to this Cookie Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy to reflect changes to the Services, technology, or legal requirements. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
